The mid 20th century fabrics designers burst into the lives of young people growing up in the post-war years. This was the incoming era of The Teenager. Swirling full skirts, bouncey with layers of stiffened petticoat, copying the American stylized culture of cowboy literature, movies and films.

Somehow the poodle had a part in this, reflecting the new era of travel – Europe and Paris especially so near; the sophistication of ‘exotic overseas’, after the dull drab austere post war years.

And this full and swirly red and black spotted cotton fabric, and black trotting poodles on their lead out for a walk epitomises that time, plus the red fluffy pom-poms , again referencing those French poodles with their bobble cut at the end of the tail. As contrast it is lined with a cream and black cotton, and a multi-colour spot waistband. Wow!
