On my last visit to the Cloth House in Camden Town I bought this remnant of fantastic glaringly, daringly orange corduroy. Obviously that wasn’t the only thing I bought in such an exciting fabric shop! I originally made it up into a larger size pinafore dress, and disliked the finished item so much I took it to pieces and remade it in this smaller size – ‘sometimes you just get it wrong!’ But I now love this with its neck and hem trim of colourful guipure daisies, plus a piped neckline and bound hem in purple. The lining is a ‘vintage rescued’ fabric with a soft green background printed with friendly woolly looking woodland animals. As usual easy on and off with poppers on the straps. The whole combination is colourful and so attractive, just right for a little girl to wear while out shopping with mum or grandma, or Christmas Day.
